During this period affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, hotels should review and reorganize any processes that were not established before reopening. Why not focus on retraining and restructuring processes now so that when the pandemic is over, the business will be fully prepared?

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - General Director of Viet Orient Tourism Consulting & Hotel Management Company

Recently, I've seen many businesses complaining about Covid-19 and the difficulties they're facing during this pandemic. As a business owner or company leader, what can you do to turn these seemingly unproductive periods into productive ones?

Naturally, when a pandemic occurs, the economy is the first to be affected, then businesses and workers. However, not all sectors are negatively impacted; some have even thrived due to pandemic control measures, such as healthcare, electricity, water, telecommunications, and information technology. Nevertheless, sectors like services, tourism, hospitality, food and beverage, and transportation have been severely affected.

With businesses overwhelmed and very busy, not all have the time or resources to streamline their operations, processes, forms, job descriptions, policies, benefits, or even employee training. Therefore, you now have more time to review whether your business management system is complete, instead of laying off employees or reducing working hours to minimize costs.

I work in the tourism and hospitality industry, so I would like to delve deeper into this area.

During my work, I have encountered many projects and noticed that many hotels are currently operating but lack professional setups, from human resources and training to management, business, and marketing. This is a gap that prevents hotels from achieving high efficiency when they start operating.

I have also seen some projects halted midway. This is a time when it's easier to hire staff, and delays in construction projects don't reduce financial costs.

Therefore, during this period affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, hotels should review and improve any systems that were not established before operation. And why aren't hotels focusing on retraining and restructuring their processes so that when the pandemic is over, the business will be like a brand new ship?

Be a wise business owner, a brilliant leader, and a great captain to steer your ship in the right direction, not wasting time turning negatives into positives, transforming risks into opportunities.
